Flying B – inspired by Bentley’s logo / hood ornament
I have long been intrigued by design which is clearly automotive, but not a complete car. Bentley is a brand I admire, but as yet had not sculpted. The Bentley logo is evocative, and just plain cool. So motivation met opportunity, and the Flying B resulted.
My main Bentley story evolves from successfully wangling a W12 Bentley Continental from Bentley’s press fleet for a week’s travel around Scotland. Save for the Glasgow to Edinburgh corridor that meant B roads and C roads, where the Conti felt alarmingly wide. Yet, I felt the car would be a much better fit on North America’s roads. Indeed, I note every third car in California’s Coachella Valley seems to be a Conti.
